It's not that expensive and the thing is you don't need coverage, you need to cover your vitals. Front plate should be 3 inches below the top of your sternum. Get medical kit and know how to use it. Tourniquets, gauze, basic stop the bleed stuff.

I wouldn't discourage people from armor but everything has a time and place. If youre entrenched holding a position, great. The opening days of conflict we are moving hard and fast, striking soft targets in hit and run tactics that we outnumber them at least 3 to 1 and blending back into the population.

That said. Ceramic is more expensive but steel is cheaper and it won't break. Ceramic has a shelf life and it can shatter if dropped.

What's going to be far more effective is going to the thrift store and getting a shoulder bag that can conceal a pdw type weapon and or a shit ton of magazines. If you listen to people who've been in fights they always want more mags. Around 13 is a good number. The high speed guys with just 3 up front are stacked 30 deep and have a metric ton of support behind them.

The only thing to watch out for with the steel armor is that it must have an excellent anti spall liner. With no anti-spall liner or a shitty one a steel plate is almost as bad as nothing. It will deflect shrapnel right into your neck. Watch some armor test videos if you don't believe me.
