There was a leathersmith on YouTube who would make recreations of Louis Vuitton bags he'd find at thrift stores. LV actually sued him, which is how he learned that LV employs people in almost every State to visit thrift shops looking for grandma's old LV bags to have them destroyed. They do this to create scarcity of their bags, but also so that guys like him don't get their printed leather to make other things out of it. LV burns a lot of cash to manipulate the market and maintain their status quo.

The truly wealthy are obsessed with staying ahead of inflation by investing and buying assets with residual income (interest, dividends, etc.) The most wealthy live off the bank's money (your ATM fees), not their own.
