Boyle shot the movie with a digital miniDV camera, specifically the Canon XL-1, with a native resolution of 720x576. This resulted in a 480p image, which is only 4% of the pixel density of 4K.

I'm hoping *Sight & Sound* get around to reviewing it. Place your pre-orders, goys! 🤣

EDIT: If you have seen this essay deconstruction of the film, you absolutely must. *28 Days Later* was one of my favorite films when it first released. Looking back on it now, in proper context, it makes me realize we live in a world full of symbols and subtext designed and imposed by our enemies.

Let's not talk about the sequels, which are typical Direct-to-Video studio slop.

Pfft. This one starts at 1 and blows a fuse at 2, LOL.

There really is a sucker born every minute, because the standard 1080p Blu-ray was notorious dog shit. Whoever buys this "4K" deserves it.

It could be AI upscaled pretty easily to be fair.

Buddy, I just told you that 480p is 4% of a native 4K image. Where's the other 96% coming from?

That's not how upscaling works. Maybe they can use some DNR, but then you're watching another movie entirely.

The other 96% comes from AI generation making it up
