Jesus prophesied that the temple would be utterly destroyed, and that no stone would be left upon another. The Romans did exactly that in 70 AD. For a Pope, for any Christian to pray at that wall, is to call Jesus (God) a liar. And, most here know that isn't part of the temple, either.

Stockholm syndrome to the max - no matter how corrupt it is, you still have to support the institution because it’s always reformable! (It’s not). Then while you do nothing meaningful to fix it, the system plods on on a multi-generational timeline, so the reforms you never accomplished get forgotten about, everything gets cranked further left, and within 2 generations you now get gay acceptance, infinity immigrants, etc etc. And the institution is now so far out of control you’re never reining it in.

As somebody from the US West cost I don't think I've ever met a devout Catholic and I'm glad I haven't.
