I've said it before. It's a persecution fetish. They want to be oppressed. They want you to hurt them, so that way they can turn the other cheek and be the better man. Even better if you just hurt someone else so that they can turn the other cheek on their behalf.
When they hear that 'the meek will inherit the earth', they choose to believe meek means spineless, because that is easiest to do and what comes most natural to them. They make a mockery of the concept of forgiveness, and make it into unlimited tolerance of all wrongdoing.
