Not to defend EVs but all that “auto shut down” remote spying and hackability can be and is being built into new ICE cars. Having a gas engine doesn’t prevent that with all the electronics in a car.

Kit cars.

You can theoretically build a car from the 80s and 90s just by visiting a junkyard and buying replacement parts.

I know for a fact that rebuilt cars from the 80s and 90s are worth about 10x as much as new cars. You could make serious bank doing this.

Would need a garage and knowledge and lots of time. Also patience. And money to invest, many parts are gonna be new.

If you have the know-how to build or at least repair every part on a car from the 80s, I would give you half up front to build me a truck from the 80s. Or I'll buy all the parts and pay you every week depending on how much time you spent working on it.

This could be a very, very successful business for people who know how a wrench works.

The only caveat is I really want A/C in my truck. You know what, strike that. They had those triangle windows that would blast you with wind. A/C is not necessary.

True, it’s best to know where that antenna is on the vehicle.
