I think the older generations deserve nothing less than the impersonal touch of an AI phone call and 3rd world care taker. Elderly that did it right won't suffer this fate.
They failed to secure a future for their grandchildren, didn't teach their children the value of family. Sold the birthright to consume a new boat and a McMansion.
I visit my grandparents weekly, and call at least once a week as well to check in on them. I bring them groceries, make them meals, pick up their house, and do a little "honey do" list for them. Some of my cousins and my children even surprised them with an impromptu sleepover one night. They are so precious to me.
If you're still blessed to have grandparents in your life, go bring them a meal and spend time with them. Ask them about their parents. Learn your history while you can.
