Drugs are known to cause psychotic breaks or mental ilnesses that would have otherwise not happened at all or happened much layer.
Big pharma is bad. So is using drugs.
The only way drugs MIGHT be helpful (emphasis on might and on more research needed) is using them in a very limited, specific and controlled way to get rid of phobias or other maladaptive behaviors. This does NOT mean continued use, that would be a failure, but a one time or a couple times deal to give the individual a different perspective that he could not otherwise get

Weed can be have weird effects depending on who grew it and if they used pesticides etc. On one occasion I took two hits from a joint and within 1 minute I was in the toilet throwing up as if I was poisoned, no balance, shaky legs, general weakness. Then I literally passed out and woke up 5 hours later.
It looked and smelled perfectly normal, there was zero indication and I had never had an adverse reaction to weed before.
I grow organic, no spray or anything like that, but I agree with your point regarding chemicals. Nobody has studied what happens to organic products once a flame has been introduced. I'm positive the adverse effects are from chemicals or compounds that may be certified organic, but the flames add a new dynamic that has not been studied.
Weed can make you paranoid but if you haul off and stab someone, something else in your brain is messed up.
