These men, such as Saint-Simon, Fourier, and Comte, all lived in the aftermath of the liberal French Revolution. This society was plagued with what was at the time the forefront of degeneracy, those now-trivial things that have long since been depoliticized and normalized, such as divorce.
The men I listed are all early figures in sociology, whose original mission was to cure the ills caused by the French Revolution.
These men, plus the senior Saint-Simonians Bazard and Enfantin, are also all early figures in socialism, then a part-compromise with, and part-reaction to, liberalism and republicanism. This is how ideas such as the rule of engineers or bankers came about. They're dreaming about alternatives to the republic, none of which ever amounted to anything. The question they're asking is: If kings and presidents are both unacceptable, then where can we go from here? Furthermore, if Catholicism and atheism are both unacceptable, then where can we go from here? This is why the Saint-Simonians and Comteans were essentially also new religions.
All of this stuff would benefit from numerous corrections. Saint-Simon probably wasn't Yiddish. New Christianity only came about late in Saint-Simon's life and has nothing to do with his belief in technocracy. It also caused instability among the Saint-Simonians.
Many of these men were either degenerates or had been corrupted by them. Fourier was an early proponent both of feminism and the normalisation of homosexuality, even if he was also an 'antisemite' and saw individualism as having gone too far. Enfantin was a proponent both of 'free love' and the legalization of prostitution.
