Without the legalities of his actions entering the chat he knew what he was doing, hitting a man's hat anywhere in this county is going to start a fight.
he should have already either walked away or escalated to immediately and lawfully suppress the opponent, stop the fight. scrapping like this, especially when you're the more experienced fighter, is fucking stupid.
now i don't know what state this is in... being hit in the face and continuing to be threatened with violence may or may not support use of deadly force in his state. but it certainly lawfully supports suppression.

Yes, before anyone says it, I do understand that they aren’t actually anything special, but these normies, and NPCs don’t, and all they see is large confident white men destroying their world. 🤣
Definitely shouldn't go to the ground in the middle of a group of enemies though. A bruised rib, or even a shin, will wipe the grin off his face and give him something to think about later while letting you keep your feet.
