Seems like it was one of those cases where another robber got shot, and they sentence the others for murder, for taking part in the robbery. So *someone* DID get hurt.
I think this law is stupid though, why are people getting sentenced for murder when they did not kill and had no intention of killing (their friend).
Then again, every time I saw this law being applied, it was niggers, sooo yeah.
Also it seems that his sentence has since been reduced to 30 years. He initially got 65 years because he refused a plea deal of 25 years and lost, and got sentenced. But seems like a judge reduced it.
The law was created because of bank robberies where getaway drivers and others got off on technicalities. "My client didn't rob the bank, he just drove his friends to the bank. He didn't know what was going on." Nobody would have been hurt if they hadn't been doing what they shouldn't. The law is 100% fair and legit; if the group wants to share in the loot, they can share in the consequences too.
