I was once driving with a black engeering colleague from a job site back to the office. He asked to stop off at a mall for 20 minutes to pick up some shoes. I thought he was joking and laughed, then he went on about how it was release day for a shoe and he hadn't been able to locate a pair yet. I laughed again because I thought he was joking and ended up hurting his feelings.
