Sometimes when I’m scrolling social media I come across posts where I’m like “what made this person post this?”. In this case, I don’t mean it like “this person is CrAzY!!” I just mean the posts where people feel the need to post such mundane things about their day.
It hits me with this really deep sadness, I guess it could easily hit me with a deep happiness in that it confirms this social nature inherent to being human, but for whatever reason it hits me with the opposite. I see it almost as a confirmation of an inherent loneliness to being human, like we’re all these camera obscuras looking out through our pinholes and you just see how mundane and trivial most of someone’s day to day is, irrespective of who they are, just in the human condition sort of way.
This post got me that way, just in that it’s the sort of thing I would have typed up and halfway through would have been like “wait why do I feel the need to share this thought with anyone?” and discarded it without posting. And like social media has to be like 95+% as useless thoughts as stuff like this.
