Understand that God is, by definition, Good and the absolute best thing you can do for yourself is to give yourself over to God's path for you, even if it brings pain (and it certainly will).

If you love yourself, you must want the best for yourself, which means surrendering to God.

Remember that you, as a child of Eve, are capable of Good and evil. Submitting to God's will is not to become a puppet, but to let go of everything about yourself except what is Good. It is still your will, but it is the absolute best of what you could be.
