never been in one, but my mother was due to family connections (ultra rich aunt)
you wait for fucking HOURS to dine on multiple dishes in small quantities, of which the quality is of the highest though according to her testimony its a lot of weird shit like sea bugs, crab/lobster and oyster (in medieval ages, this would've been considered nig-feed)
its a glorified tasting menu experience, people pay a lot of money for this and frankly i'd rather eat the local asian chicken tendies because i'm a simple bloke, and i like meat not fucking sea bugs or fish.
They don't have to French.
They don't have to be fancy.
And they don't have to be expensive.
Some are literally taco shops.
Yes, some are snobby restaurants but certainly not all of them.
