Anyone who claims to have authority from God better be careful in case they don't actually have it.
The biblical pattern is that God sends prophets and apostles to explain the scriptures and reveal more scripture, while those who murder the prophets claim that they have authority from previous prophets and their interpretation of their writings, which all too often aren't even written by the prophets.
