My dad, born as WWII was ending, thus the generation before the Boomers, decided in his later years to buy a small house just far enough away from the kids that we couldn't visit him all the time, but we could visit him once a month or so. His ancestors all wished to die quickly and leave no burden on the next generation. Their greatest fear was becoming a burden.

The Boomer ethos can't disappear fast enough.
