You literally cannot "be" jewish unless you are descended from jews, which means there is an obvious genetic supremacy component that separates jews from non-jews. Anyone can be Christian. Anyone can even be Muslim. But jews gatekeep behind genealogy so it's not just important, it's *correct* to differentiate them, by their own rules. The entire basis of judaism is that they claim to be blood descendants of one of the tribes of Israel (I don't remember which, but also I don't care).
jews only approve of marriage to non-jews if that marriage unlocks access to power or money. And the process of converting to judaism as a goyim *is* possible, but incredibly restricted and difficult and involves humiliation rituals.
