My favorite "oy vey we tricked god" is the eruv. I learned about this when I read a newspaper article talking about how one was "finally" being put up in Manchester. The juden were in fits of joy over it.
An eruv is a wire that is ran around an area, usually a city block/blocks or town. Then a rabbi does some magic at it. And BOOM! God can't see through it. The area inside the eruv is now invisible to their god. Do whatever you want, kikels. He's blind as long as you are behind the magic wire!
It just cracks me up. Imagine being so stupid that you believe in a god that can be tricked by the man who he supposedly impowers. Imagine thinking your god is omnipotent and omniscient... Except if you say abracadabra on your little piece of string.

Remember, the Eruv symbolizes OWNERSHIP of the area it encloses.
