He told people to stop being degenerates, thats the real reason they killed Him. Tell people to be "nice" (IE lie to one another, in the present society) and they will worship the ground you walk on. Tell them to repent, and they will call you every name under the sun and try and remove you from society.
Exactly. He wasn't telling anyone to be "nice". He was telling them how to be righteous while casting out their demons.
God sent his son to the worst people on earth. He hung out and tried to save all of humanities worst people: Tax collectors, Prostitutes and Jews.
His big point was you can be baptized and have a personal relationship with God and contrition is your way into Heaven.
