Asia's a big place, so we call them Orientals. It means "Eastern", but is only used to mean Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. Sometimes Vietnamese, but it never means hindu.

In my neck of the woods "oriental" usually refers to Arabs.

Asian works for Americans and for Brits where the term refers to pajeets, "east asian" works just as well.
