this is not how modern society works though. modern society doesn't look for averages. modern society looks for volume who exceed a minimum threshold, usually something like top 10% or top 1% or top 0.1%. bigger populations always have bigger advantages in this.

china and india have an advantage here because the population of each is 3x higher. this means just to be "worth it" for a company to recruit here in the US, the kids have to be multiple times better.
