I support Ilhan's verbiage about 9/11. And it's useful to illustrate a million points. 9/11 wasn't that big of a deal. Obviously it ended a lot of lives, which is a big deal for them and their families. But it was *not* even remotely a big of enough concern to literally change all of our daily lives for decades and beyond.
Some people did something, and now the federal government is allowed to completely disregard the fourth amendment if you decide to travel.

It's all so absurd. A handful of people flew a plane into a building 23 years ago, and now I get molested every week when I travel for work, and the restrictions are only getting worse.
Now they have everyone getting their face scanned, and you have to "opt out" of it. When you do opt out, about 50% of the time, the "officer" makes a scene out of it, lectures you about how you're still on camera and are causing a slowdown for the people behind you, then intentionally takes an absurd amount of time to do the manual verification (which they previously could do in a trivial amount of time). And, even despite that, you still end up waiting for an available bin to put your stuff in, so turns out you didn't slow down the line at all.
We should be allowed to carry liquids on airplanes. That is a no-brainer. Airlines should be responsible for airport security, not the federal government. That is a no-brainer. But we should also be allowed to carry pocket knives on airplanes. You're not going to stop a terrorist by disallowing a pocket knife. Any terrorist that set on it, is going to find a way to get a blade into the airport anyway (such as, I dunno, bringing in a block of steal (allowed) and sharpening stones (allowed)).
And, truly, you should be allowed to carry firearms on airplanes.

You made some legit points after that, but nobody heard them because 99.99% of the population checked out. Work on that phrasing.
And, yeah, they need us to undress and surrender our toothpaste, but who's that refueling the plane? Who's that slinging luggage (and who knows what else) onto the plane? It's one of Muhammed's 347 cousins! Of course he's got an all-access pass to the airport. Why not? 🙃

But nobody on ConsumeProduct stopped listening when I said that.
It's all about knowing your audience. And this particular audience is farther along in unlearning what propaganda has tried to engrain into their brains, so they are ready to hear that 9/11 was simply not as big of a deal as everyone says it is.
I'm not going to use that phrasing when trying to convince people.
