You'd be better off with a spiked mace or a polearm, these flails look cool but they're ineffective as the strength isn't transfered through the chain and thus they require a spinning motion to build up enough speed to be effective, and they're more easily halted. It's also harder to control them and avoid hurting yourself or your allies.
