Ive cut my consumption to just trading cards, since they actually require a bit of thinking to play, and in the event of a total societal collapse, I will have the most *expensive* kindling in my neighborhood.

I don't have any collections. I once had a collection of beer mugs, but I threw them out as they served to purpose. The things you own, end up owning you.
If it’s not something that forces me to have physical exertion, and experiences with others while also perfecting a skill, I try not to indulge. Almost everything I buy now is to use to better myself physically, and mentally. You have to be careful with this too, because you can still end up buying all the latest, and “greatest” things still, like guitars, gold clubs, and guns. At least guns tend to hold value, but I know people who go full retard with it, and rarely ever shoot any of them. Another one is weight lifting equipment. I have a friend who has an amazing home gym, but he keeps buying shit that he barely uses. I don’t get it.
