I don't know if it was a fake or not but I saw old cartoons about it and the witch has the star of David on her house.

It's not surprising, all the evil creatures in European folklore are based on the Jews.

I've seen it too. Don't remember if it was the original illustration that went with the book, but it was one of the earlier ones.

I have been wondering, are these fairy tale villains based on something in real life?

I can't quite put my finger on it.

Rumplestiltskin is a vile creature that wants a firstborn child for reasons unknown, but the nobility make deals with him anyway because of his ability to turn straw into gold.

Calling him out by his true name will cause him to freak out.
