I agree, it's evil to do this to your parents regardless of how shitty they may be. Besides that, who does this teach a lesson to that matters really? The parents are in their last years, so the lesson is pointless for them. It's not teaching a lesson to "future" generations as it's a localized event, and it objectively kind of just makes you out to be a bitter asshole.

The only thing this person is doing is engaging in self gratification. It's bitter revenge porn at best.
