For what it's worth, the third reich and the German empire also had very positive opinions about turks, and ataturk was one of hitlers inspirations. Make of that what you will, but I've never viewed the turks as much of an enemy. Doesn't mean that a fuck load of them should be in germany, but at the same time they're not exactly a race-war level issue like niggers and arabs.
