The plains i dians hunted bison by finding a plateau and prompting a stampede towards it to trick the herd into running over the edge which resulted in many more of the animals than they needed or could even use plummeting to their deaths. They only used every part of the animals they could carry back with them, leaving many compses to be scavenged or rot in the elements.
