Just when I thought I've heard them all, a new vocabulary term enters my lexicon.

There's a viper in the wood pile.

Probably invited the nigger in.

I thought that nigger in the wood pile meant having a distant nigger ancestor despite being White.

To be fair, elephant in the room is a better analogy. And I don't want to see niggers, I don't want to associate things with niggers, I don't want to think about niggers. I just don't want them to exist any more. They should be a memory of the past.

It's funny but nonsensical. Elephant in the room makes sense, the idea is that there's something huge and obvious and entirely out of place just in the room and everyone is pretending it's not there. Nigger in a woodpile, I dunno, like is the nigger buried under hundreds of pounds of wood? That doesn't sound suspicious, sounds like a good start.

Yeah, but how did the phrase originate? Was it like a dead nigger laying in a woodpile wouldn't be seen? Anyone know how it came about?
