They're effectively primitive east asians. They derive from the same ancestors but did not evolve on the mainland with their kin and stayed isolated on the pacific islands. Primitive asians had much more massive and robust skulls than modern ones, thousands of years of eating almost exclusively grain did a number on the size of their heads.

There are a couple very primitive mongoloid groups in Asia.

The other are the negritos, who are effectively *devolved* to look like niggers because of the climate, and they have nigger iqs, but their genetics are *much* closer to a Chinese person than to an African. Interesting case study. The proto-east asians evolved (and devolved) into a lot of different groups beyond Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. We also have the Jomon, who have partial caucasian ancestry because of the ancient north eurasians (but they are indeed mostly still primitive east Asian), this is also ditto for siberians and amerindians, who are also 1/3 caucasian (without white admixture) because of ANE. Oh, and even aboriginal Australians, who are the most horifically cursed of all of them, so much so that they're entirely removed from their proto mongoloid root (except for archaeogenetics) and have devolved to be... whatever the fuck they are.

In regards to size of Polynesians vs east asians, east asians also have the capability of having a very large size and height. Bergmann's Rule. Their metabolism is slow, like whites. Their diet just has no calorie density at all. Look at Mongolians, or turkic people, for an example of this. Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese just give a horrible sampling of what asians are evolutionarily supposed to be because their diet has been malnutrition for thousands of years.
