TBH it's literally better than anything anyone else is doing.
Shooting your guns is worthless. Ask anyone who's actually been in combat, your casual range marksmanship is one of the least useful skills you can have. 90% of the time you can't even see what you're shooting at.
There's stupid people who pay enormous sums of money for 'tactical training courses' from some definitely-absolutely-for-sure-was-a-military-badass bearded fat fuck, and they go out for a weekend and do stupid shit. But that's worthless too. Training is about repetition and most people can't afford those courses in enough frequency to stick. Honestly, watching Garand Thumb's videos on SERE is about as useful, and that's free.
So yeah, I'll say Weekend Warrior grappling and physical combat sports, especially if they do it frequently enough, is about as good as it gets.
