Technically, the British monarchy has died out at least once already, depending on how picky you want to be.
The Tudor dynasty ended because Elizabeth I never married (and therefore died without children). Elizabeth spend years fighting against plots to put her cousin (Mary, Queen of Scots) on the throne of England, but because Elizabeth was childless, Mary's son James I inherited the throne by default when Elizabeth died. This was not a clear "win" for Mary, however (she was beheaded before this happened).
The execution of Charles I (and loss of all real power for the royals) is another "end of an era" moment.
As for the current royal family (the Windsors), it has already had a range of degrading incidents:
* King Edward VIII abdicated to marry a divorced woman
* Prince Charles married Diana but was carrying on with Camilla
* Diana died because she was playing the whore with another man while still married to Charles
* Prince Charles married Camilla after Diana died (*without* giving up the right to the throne--this shows how far standards have slipped)
* Prince Andrew was involved with Jeffrey Epstein (how much and how far will probably never come to light)
* Prince Harry married Meghan, who was not only divorced (and again hasn't invalidated his right to the throne) but also mixed race (deliberate to snub the royals? Insert Daily Mail speculation here)
* Probably something else I'm not recalling off-hand
