The purpose for this sub is as an archive of beautiful art.

Please abide by all arete.network rules.

Edit: please try to find the highest resolution image possible. Max file upload on Arete is currently 8.0 Mb. If you want a higher quality version post a link in the comments, or make a link post.

Remember that Arete let's you combine image and text posts, so you can post an image and have a description (genre, medium, date, artist name, etc) posted below.

as a note I think erotica should be considered nsfw and be removed, do you think this is a correct interpretation of arete rules?

I would probably tend to want no nsfw stuff. Reason is I feel it is an edge case that is exploited. Old paintings should still cover the chest of women and torsos generally.
 
idk this came up as a bit of a religious debate given the nudity in the Sistine Chapel, it was originally thought inappropriate and there's been a back and forth on if it should stand or not. Currently with the "modernist" Vatican it stands. I think it should probably be covered up.
