Lately I've been most interested in deserts and mountains. Bonus points for high deserts.

The feeling I get when I'm in nature is very hard to explain. It's a certain oneness, zen feeling I have. It's like most of the problems I have in my day to day life seem to matter much less when I'm out there.
Urban/suburban parks/trails/preserves are cool, but various things (finding trash, hearing nearby traffic, not being able to see the stars at night, et al) are more likely to occur in such places to deter the immersion.
