> Iran could plainly see the consequences of Saddam's (lack of) WMDs being the death of Iraq (though they had a helping hand in that catastrophe. Shame on them for that).

Iraq had WMDs, they were given to them by the US in the iran-iraq war IIRC. Saddam destroyed them per US instructions, and they jewed him anyways. It was just an excuse to destroy Iraq for Israel. Saddam was a US puppet, and he was backstabbed by us for israel’s benefit.

Also why would Iran care about Saddam being toppled? He did attack them unprovoked which resulted in a million+ deaths and years of warfare. It’s not like those countries were friends, far from it.

>WMDs

Chemical weapons. Not nukes. We all know what the nice jew on TV was implying when they said "WMDs". But even so, yes they didn't even have them anymore.

>Saddam was a US puppet

He was a pretty fucking shit US puppet then because he immediately pivoted towards the USSR and arab nationalism as soon as he took office.

>unprovoked

It was definitely provoked. Iran was playing the part of a pretty bad actor by being the monkey wrench thrown into the gears of Iraq-Syria relations and unification attempts. Furthermore, funding Kurdish terrorists and receiving money from Israel is a bad look. Israel played Iran like a damned fool until after Iraq fell.

>It’s not like those countries were friends, far from it

There was absolutely a possibility of them being allies or even uniting if Hafez Al-assad did not pivot towards Iran and atomize the Arabs because of his ego being hurt due to the fact that Iraq would have obviously been the dominant power of a state merger.
