On January 8, 2021, the Justice Department announced charges against 13 suspects. Three days later, the FBI and the DoJ were granted warrants and began their first sweep of over 150 suspects. By January 13, over 50 public sector employees and elected officials and over a dozen Capitol police officers were being investigated to determine their possible complicity.
Nobody was being spared. It was a full-force, all-out political persecution, a show of force by the incoming occupation regime. Trump could see the direction this was heading and had all the power to stop it cold in its tracks. He didn't. Once again, he feared *mUh OpTicS!*

Remember that the US had literal political opponents jailed and treated like terrorists for... trespassing... for 4 years. In the Soviet Union, political opponents were jailed 8-10 years. So it's halfway there.
If they wouldn't be pardoned, they'd probably be in jail for many more years.
