As usual, everything you think you know about Kitty Genovese is wrong. The story began life as a misreported story in the NY Times based on one reporter's sloppy research and sensationalist writing. There are some good documentaries on the subject. This one, produced by Kitty's brother Bill, is probably the best.

That's okay, I was just recommending the documentary to anyone who's interested. It's not compulsory.
I read two of Colin Flaherty's books. His works were so true, so real, so indisputable, that they couldn't be contradicted. He died at 66 of cancer, although I honestly thought he was going to be assassinated long before that.

I was lucky enough to speak to him over the phone a couple of times about 10 years ago. He was a real one.
