How does that work? If the Chinese own it, how can they be forced to sell? Unless there are backdoor threats made?

Let me clarify. The US government is attempting to force the sale by banning TikTok operations in the US. My understanding is the apps will be removed from the apple/android app stores and TikTok won't be allowed to have any infrastructure operating in the US. I haven't seen if ISPs will implement DNS blocks or black hole TikTok IPs, in which case you'll may need a VPN to access it.
