So no, I don't think varg did it. I believe it was probably one of the numerous outright Satanists and communists active in the scene rather than the far right reactionary who is obsessed with preserving ancient germanic culture. He was just easy to blame because of how fucking infamous he was (and still is). Vikernes still denies doing it and considering that he blatantly admitted to killing euronymous, I don't think he would lie about it. Especially after all this time and with everyone thinking he did it anyways. If he admitted to it right now absolutely nothing would happen to him.

If varg wanted to burn a church, he would have burned down a regular church instead of a stave church because of the kind of person he is.
