Why does the alt right oppose alcohol so aggressively?

Beer brewing was a staple for many monks. Going back in history, everybody drank wine or beer. Low ABV beer was a safer drink than water throughout much of the middle ages, with yeast during brewing out competing many nastier bacteria etc. Like most things it has some good and some bad. I enjoyed the film "another round" if you haven't seen it.
