Because it's poison.

Because God said to not drink it to excess.

Because the jews took over alcohol production in the soviet union after Red October.

It’s only poison if you abuse it. Having a glass of wine on a special occasion is a great way to celebrate.

If it were truly poison, it wouldn’t be part of the Holy Eucharist and Paul wouldn’t be recommending it to Timothy.

Find a local winery or brewery or distillery. Befriend them. They make good stuff. A lot of the distilleries in my area are surprisingly based.

It's not wine at that point.

It's still wine. It's symbolic, it does not turn in to blood or it would taste like blood.

Found the protestant cultist.

Point to me in the Bible where Jesus says it's a symbol of His blood?

Go ahead.

I mean.. he has a point. It doesn't taste like blood. If it physically turns into blood, it's the most wine-like blood I've ever seen.

That would be the part where he said it was his blood, but it's not literally blood. Not only can literally every one of us know this by tasting the wine (or grape juice, as the case may be), but if it were literally true that wine became blood and bread became flesh, that would be cannibalism! Throughout the Old Testament, cannibalism is represented as a dreadful curse, an awful consequence received by rebellious jews at their worst, and this is highly incongruous with Jesus' message in the Lord's supper, which is one of a blessing.

Apostolic authority passed from the Roman church long before lurid claims such as transubstantiation were made, over a thousand years after the time of Paul the Apostle.

The ancient romans and greeks never drank pure wine, they always diluted it.

It is drunkeness that is considered degenerate behaviour, not wine itself.

caffeine is a drug, not a poison.

you said alcohol is not a poison, which is false

You not understanding categories of intoxicants doesn't make them the same thing. God, you're like a boomer.

Almost everything you consume has some sort of negative effects on your body. Most vegetables (specifically the cruciferous ones) have anti-nutrients that are technically toxic for humans. I’m not downplaying the toxins in alcohol. I’m very well aware. I have family members who are bit dependent on the stuff. I’m just trying to say that I’ve seen people being shamed for drinking at all.

Alcohol is a big part of white culture, specifically wine and beer. So why all the hate?

The famous mobsters from the 1920s were the guys hustling liquor during the prohibition era.

I liked that show Boardwalk Empire which covered some of that time period.

Only because the US Government made it profitable to do so ... once that they realized that it was taxable, though ...
