True. My mom’s house I built she did it cash, I had a 12” well drilled with a high flow pump. She saves $3,000 a year being uninsured, her house is only vulnerable to fire which is now not an issue. She’ll recoup the cost of the well and pumping system in 4 years.

If you mortgage though, you have to insure.

Edit: my home insurance doubled because people in my area filed claims despite me never having one in the 8 years I’ve lived on my own. Can’t wait to be mortgage free in 3 years.
