I’m so glad I’m not a gOOmer today. I really feel for young men under 30. They truly did get fucked on almost everything, and missed out on when things could at least be somewhat enjoyable.

Between me, and a couple of friends growing up, we use to have access to almost every console that dropped. We’d swap them with each other for the weekend and shit, and have amazing split screen fun. It’s just not the same anymore. I didn’t get into PC gaming until around 2008, and stopped giving a shit around 2016. I couldn’t imagine building anything today for the complete shift show companies are constantly releasing. I’ve read the latest stalker is a mess too.

Ah yes the couch coop. How the times have changed.

2008 you say? Sounds like you were just in time for the gaming anti christ gabe newell to invent the hat system and in turn inventing a new way to monetize gaming for future generations to come. Lucky You!

You can do that. Get an n64 and make babies to teach how to play it.

call me insane but i'd rather play 60 FPS than 100 something FPS using fake-frames that gonna make the textures look all sluggy and in-authentic

when i played Stalker 2 i had turned off all the artificial fake frame generation and played most of the game 60 something FPS with my TND tier rig (7800x3d + 7900XTX NITRO)

and you know i played with "show FPS off" to purely immerse myself in the game, it fucking staggers me how people focus so much time and effort into maximizing their performance instead of just ENJOYING THE FUCKING GAME

P.S use [this essential mod to de-niggerize the experience](https://laxmods.site/threads/negro-remover.156/)

Yeah I still play my Xbox and have a pc but as I get older those things aren't fulfilling anymore. It really is a "grow out of it" kind of thing. I just think the ways we used to become adults was very different than now. Everyone has been infantalized and that's why these people never start to grow up.

Lol.

I didnt have most of that because we grew up a type of poor most ppl won't ever understand, but we played constantly. My grandpa built me a bike out of parts he collected at the dump for my 7th birthday. I got a .22 rifle for small game hunting for food on my 6th birthday. But we always had something to do for fun. Toys were just accessories to imagination. Now kids don't even know what to do WITH the toys. I feel bad for them :(

What it's saying is the modern cards, if you turn off the AI and just render each pixel like graphics cards used to do, will only get about 20ish fps, but if you turn on the AI it gets 200+ fps. But that means most of the pixels are fake, they are predicted by the AI, not actually generated from the game.

Why does that actually matter though if it works?
Rebooted on scored.co
1 year ago 6 points (+0 / -0 / +6Score on mirror ) 1 child
Because the video card is guessing what the game will do instead of showing what the game is doing. You still get 20 fps worth of information from the game, meaning the speed of information shown to you is still slow. The extra 170+ fps are interpolated nonsense.
Weematanyeh on scored.co

How does it effect the experience for the player? Maybe I cant relate because I like to used budget parts and dont mind playing games on the lowest settings.

Best case, the image is smoothed between frames and you can't tell the difference. Likely case is the image is smoothed between frames and gets details mildly off, looking "slimy" or entering the uncanny valley for microseconds, constantly, forever. Worst case is the ai gets things wrong and makes ghosted/shadowed fake enemies/terrain/etc., or shows none where there are some, for microseconds, constantly, forever.

It'l probably be some mix of all three. Now, if you're spending almost $2k on a video card you're likely the type of gamer who is pushing for every microsecond of response time you can get. If your mind is getting messed with by the video card for microseconds, constantly, you'll have to spend mental resources to evaluate what you're shown and that'll slow you down.

Also, I'm assuming the unterpolation will affect the beauty/rendering of some scenes. And if you're the person spending $2k on a video card you're paying for it to look the best it can.

I play on older hardware that gets 60fps with low settings on a good day, so this doesn't affect me. But, I understand how it could affect someone in a different situation.

AH ok wow. Thats weird right? I mean the games haven't stopped producing the pixels, right?
InfiniteWin on scored.co
1 year ago 1 point (+0 / -0 / +1Score on mirror ) 1 child
They used to produce 100% of the pixels. Now, on one frame, they only produce a small portion of the pixels and upscaling AI fills in rest, then on the next few frames it's 0% from the game and 100% from AI. Repeat.
This can lead to positives and negatives. The positives include the games look good at high resolutions with high frame rates. The downsides include weird artifacts and shimmering as the AI guesses differently and it can lead to a feeling of input lag.

If frame 1 is partially real, frames 2 & 3 are fake while the engine is generating frame 4. Then frame 4 is partially real. Frames 5 & 6 are fake. If I press space to jump on frame 2, my character won't jump until frame 7. Meanwhile, cars driving past my character will look clear for all the frames in between, so it feels like the world is fast but my character is slow.
I hope that makes sense

Hullohoomans on scored.co

It only reaches the fps they claim because it's interpolating additional frames using ai. Without the ai, it would produce unpayably low fps.

Make sure to replace your intel (((israel inside))) CPU with an AMD, and use GNU+Linux which has working drivers for AMD. I run a potato on a GTX 1060 and get 60 FPS in most games. Then I bought a more modern AMD GPU, still good performance. The CPU is a massive bottleneck in many scenarios.

It’s not the hardware’s fault. I’m talking about baldurs gate 3 which lags in act 3 cities no matter what. The game is just inefficient.

But next build I’ll get an AMD for sure.

Since 2005. Once I learned about the connection, I made it a point to never buy an Intel again. Still going strong.

With Steam, most games runs native, usually no extra configuration needed, but if there are protondb has plenty of information about any issue you may encounter and how to fix it. Games run under wine or proton.

The only game that requires pajeetsoft windows, is nigger games like GTA online.

It actually can, but the anti-cheat will run in user mode instead. For most games this ain't a problem. Some kiked games just want total kernel level control over your system for absolutely no reason.

How we ended up here is a complete mystery, because all the game needs to do is to have some noticing on the server side and nobody would be able to cheat. But instead they try to "fix" it all client side by running kernel level software supposed to detect game modifications, which on pajeetsoft windows could also run in the kernel. A single fuckup and the whole system crash.

All of them? That's impressive. I'm not even sure I know all of the CRPGs. I've only played a handful of the more well known CRPGs (BG1+2, Planescape, Fallout1+2, Arcanum, etc).

I'm mostly moving through older JRPGs when I need something new to scratch the RPG itch.

There’s not that many of them… you mostly named them all.

Divinity original sin and the owlcat games (which kinda suck) are the rest i can think of.

I think there was a pathfinder game too, but I don't really know anything about it.

Anyway, how far are you willing to stray from the CRPG? Is Neverwinter Nights a CRPG? Is Morrowind a CRPG (hits and spells cast are chance)? Can roguelikes be CRPG if they have quests (Tales of Maj'Eyal)? What about JRPGs with less ARPG/turn based combat?

I don't know much about gaming but I will chip in with some theories

1. Graphic card companies such as Nvidia and others had their cards hijacked to do virtual coin mining and artificial intelligence. Therefore the focus is no longer on video game performance, and it shows. The better quality chips go toward AI surveillance state. You get leftover scraps for gouged prices.

2. The video card market still has not recovered from Scamdemic shortages and bottlenecks in supply chain.

3. You never own video games. You have to connect to internet, or login to google, or download updates, or pay extra for in-game items, or pay extra to access the online gaming network. It's a money pit and a scam. Extra characters cost extra money. Extra levels cost extra money. Online play extra money.

4. Somehow, WOKISM infiltrated video game development. Suddenly female characters have to be ugly or fat, you have to play as niggers or brown skins, white characters are the villains, games must now contain faggotry just like hollywood movies and tv shows.

I have a childhood friend who’s only, and main hobby is gOOming, and over Black Friday he upgraded his monitor. He grabbed an OLED, and it’s 200 and something hertz, I think 240. Anyway, I’ve had 120hz one for about 12 years, and I went by his house to try it, and while I could notice a small difference, and it definitely felt a tad smoother, it was nothing like the jump from 60-120. 120 was definitely and industry advancement and quality of life change worth every penny IMHO. It’s all a numbers game now in my opinion(just look at the rez race). The fact that he went from an 144hz IPS to an OLED panel is a much bigger jump that we both agree on. I’ve had an large screen OLED television since 2018, and it’s beautiful. I don’t watch too many newer things on it, but even older stuck looks amazing on it with the right settings, and in a dim/dark room. My favorite are the nature wildlife programs in Dolby vision. I did rewatch the dark night last month, and that also looked great on it.

Gaming peaked for me when I had a Voodoo 3500 and games ran GlideGL.

3dfx was a superior product but Nvidia and Microsoft buried them.
